Small-Audience “Blogging” – Cook Book Notes

I don’t trust the memory of my future self.  I learned this the hard way many times.  So I write notes to…ME…in all our cook books.  Surely I’m not the only one?

Below you can tell which pieces were fried after I figured out the missing ingredient in this recipe.  Both are fried, but the left side is more my style.

  1. You are NOT alone, my friend! My husband just called out from the kitchen that his cookbook says “4 eggs [from your pocket]”… That last was added (by me) a couple years ago, when he absentmindedly put several eggs in his pocket and didn’t find them until five hours later. When he hugged me. Ick. ;)

  2. I write notes, too! I’ve learned to write them in pen because I discovered the penciled ones fade away…. :)

  3. I totally do this!!!
    I learned it from my mom. I’d look through the cookbook and find things that said, “Really good!” or “Never make again” by them. :-) Haha!
    This is a really good thing to remember!!

  5. I just found you and your mantra is what I live by too. The old Teflon pan is in the sand box, it is nothing but iron. for some reason, I was born to fry. I fill my 10in skillet about half way with oil. set it at medium heat and let it come to temperature. i usually just use chicken thighs, like dark meat and it fits in pan the best. I season with Everglades only, just dusting it. I have a bowl of flour, toss them around and coat. Then I put them in the pan. I have no idea on time. But I flip one time and let cook before I take them out. Make a rue and gravy from the grease and serve it up with rice. my little cracker kids thinks rice comes one way, with gravy.
