First we have to let it dry enough that it comes off the cob easily when twisted.

I totally had to use Google to even figure out what you meant. I hadn’t ever seen that book and I still don’t know the story. It looks like a good old classic…I wonder how I missed it?

It was pretty obscure huh? Back in my grade schools days, our school sold used reading books. One that we bought had the story in it. The kid’s love the stories from that book.
